Certified organic first cold press extra virgin olive oil

All Ozolive products are made from organically-produced oil certified by the CAEE, Spain’s organic production certification body, and are grown and manufactured in Córdoba (Spain). It is a first cold press extra virgin olive oil, which means that it is pure olive oil of the highest quality obtained directly from olives and only through mechanical means, through a process that takes place at a temperature below 27°C.

Ozone and ozonated oils

Ozone is a gas with the chemical formula O3. It is the allotropic form of oxygen (O2), meaning that it is oxygen in its most active state. It is found naturally in the environment as well as in the ozone layer, which protects the planet from the sun’s ultraviolet radiation. Ozone’s main feature is its incredible ability to purify, eliminating organic compounds including bacteria, fungi and viruses. When applied directly onto them, ozone has an immediate effect and the only residue that it leaves behind is pure oxygen. This makes it an extremely effective natural germicide agent. In the case of ozonated oils, the ozone reacts with the fatty acids in the oil under controlled reaction conditions, creating peroxide species, lipoperoxides, ozonides, aldehydes and ketones, among other compounds. Not all ozonated oils are equal

It must be noted that not all ozonated oils are equal, as their quality depends on the raw material used as well as the manufacturing process followed, the bottling system, which must guarantee the stability of the product and its active ingredients, and proper storage. Bibliographic review of scientific articles and studies on oil ozonation

The ozonation of vegetable oils consists of triggering a reaction between ozone and fatty acids and generating compounds such as ozonides, aldehydes and peroxides, which are associated with very positive biological effects and whose usefulness has been demonstrated in the fields of medicine and cosmetology. Its broad-spectrum anti-microbial effects combined with the special qualities of oil as an excipient make it a tool with confirmed effectiveness for the majority of skin issues and irritations.
Multiple lines of research have been carrying out studies on the ozonation of vegetable oils over the past years, and of particular note are the results of the Cuban National Scientific Research Center [Centro de Investigaciones Científicas de Cuba] and articles published in scientific journals in Germany and the United Kingdom, among other countries.

The work of Díaz et al. on the "germicide properties of ozonated olive oil has determined the peroxidation, acidity and iodine indexes of these compounds along with their antimicrobial activity with respect to Staphylococcus aureus ATTCC 6538 and Bacillus subtilis ATTCC 6633." They observed an increase in the peroxidation index of ozonated olive oil along with an iodine index of zero, which is indicative that all non-saturated groups in the olive oil reacted with the ozone. The broadest spectrum of antimicrobial activity was obtained with the highest peroxide index, confirming the germicide power of ozonated oils.

Regarding its antifungal activity, a study by Pamela Thomson et al. assessed the safety and action of ozonated oil with respect to 41 dermatophytes via diffusion in a gel medium and broth microdilution, coming to the conclusion that ozonated oil demonstrates "elevated antimitotic activity, making it a safe alternative for the topical treatment of dermatophytosis."

Martínez Téllez et al. carried out a study on the antifungal properties of ozonated oil used in vagin*lly-administered pharmaceutical products. They studied the chemical and microbiological properties of ozonated oil with different ozone dosages applied and determined the "minimum inhibitory and fungicide concentrations of ozonated oil for fighting Candida albicans."

In its publication Schironia, the Official Association of Pharmacologists of Madrid (Colegio Oficial de Farmacéuticos de Madrid) details the qualities of ozone as a complete and universal antiseptic agent. Its article makes reference to the use of ozone during the two world wars, during which it was brought into the empirical field of medicine thanks to its antiseptic virtues as a potent "bacteriocide, fungicide and virostatic agent."

During their in vitro research at the University of Siena, Weitzel et al. advocated that ozone "could be used broadly in treating abscesses, mycosis, fistulae, boils, vulvo-vaginitis, osteomyelitis, herpes zoster and even necrotizing fasciitis through its double effect on both the pathogen and the host." The generation of superoxide free radicals is highly toxic to the survival of bacteria or fungi. In addition, the ozone also has an effect on the host, optimizing his or her immune response capacity through overall improvement in metabolism and the hyperstimulation of immune response.

Davis describes using ozone as a complementary therapy in treatment-resistant conglobate acne based on the "significant antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties" of ozonated oil. M. A. Maryam Aghaei et al. advocate the use of ozonated oil on skin with rosacea, showing "findings of a relative improvement of two times compared to traditional methods," without observing "side effects after 6 months of follow-up."

Martínez-Sánchez et al., in their update to the "medical applications" of ozonated oils, state that "the slow release of ozone in wounds promotes the healing process, not only due to local disinfection but also due to promoting, on the local level, the release of cytokines with reparative properties," including the clear "involvement of growth factors."

On the other hand, the same authors highlight a clinical trial that specifically analyzes changes in bedsores, detecting a faster healing speed in patients treated with ozonated oil. Bayil Oğuzkan et al. agree with this, and also add that vitamin E (tocopheryl acetate) should be added, as it also "has a significant effects on wound healing and preventing the formation of radicals."

With respect to the mouth, the work of Sori Gort et al. has "revealed the effectiveness of ozonated oil" in dry sockets and canker sores. M. Montevecchi analyzes the advantages of ozonated oil in periodontal therapies compared to chlorhexidine digluconate (CHX) and povidone-iodine (PVP-I).

In the veterinary profession, for use in animals (including pets such as dogs and cats), it is worth noting an article by the professionals of the National Industrial Technology Institute (INTI) of Argentina, which indicates the benefits of ozonated oil in "healing surface wounds on animal skin, not only preventing infection but also accelerating the healing process," as well as the methodology for manufacturing them and how to optimize it.

Everybody knows that the most delicate skin is found in infants or newborns. It tends to get irritated, whether because of diapers or creams or simply because of contact with fabrics that can be rough for a baby, such as linen.

As its name indicates, diaper rash is the irritation of the skin under the diaper. It appears as a red patch with well-delimited borders which can be more or less painful to the touch depending on its severity.
