Alger. Flash flood warnings were issued early today for sections of Alabama, North Carolina and Virginia as heavy thunderstorms soaked the Southeast. At least seven southeastern cities were drenched with rainfalls of more than one inch in a six hour period. A tornado watch was posted this morning for west and north central Florida. A tornado touched down miles southeast of Columbus, but no injuries were reported.
Mobile, was hit by a tornado Wednesday and at least three persons were injured. Marble-size hail fell late Wednesday at Jacksonville, as a low pressure system produced storms from Mississippi and Florida to Kentucky and Maine. Chilly weather spread into the Central Plains and Mississippi Valley today and freeze warnings were in effect for Michigan. Frost warnings were posted in northwest Ohio, north central Illinois and Indiana and sections of Wisconsin and Missouri. On the West Coast, showers were spread from the state of Washington to Oregon and northwest California.
