How to do the Genocide Route correctly in Undertale? ›

It's simple- kill every single monster you encounter. Eventually, the music will be replaced by creepy music, and you'll be told how many monsters are left. Once you meet the quota of monster kills, you'll stop getting random encounters. After that, the only thing left is to fight Toriel in the Ruins.

It's 20 kills (not including the dummy or the first Froggit). Also the kill counter you eventually do get doesn't include bosses. i e 1 left in Snowdin means you must kill 1 more monster before fighting Papyrus. Read wiki.

You have to kill at least 20 in the Ruins from the point Toriel leaves you on your own. Save points will only say, “Determination” and you'll get forced “But nobody came” encounters when you have finished the area.

You do not have to kill the first froggit. The monsters left thing won't appear until after you've gotten out of the Ruins with a successful genocide start.

You pretty much can't spare Sans. If you use mercy when given the opportunity, You get thrown into an unavoidable death trap.

In fact, Asriel tells you that Chara WASN'T a good person. You all can do all the theories that you all want, but in the canon, Chara is evil, and Asriel knew it.

Due to its high defense, Jerry is surprisingly hard to kill, and takes around nine hits to kill with weapons obtainable before or in Snowdin. However, Jerry can be spared without aborting the Genocide Route.

If the protagonist spares Monster Kid, they exclaim the protagonist wasn't particularly bad. This action aborts the Genocide Route, and the protagonist fights Undyne later in Waterfall normally.

You can't kill him because he's a ghost but he will end the battle at this point. Napstablook's attacks are in the form of tears.

However, you need to kill Snowdrake BEFORE the kill count is exhausted, and you have to kill Lesser dog if you ever encounter him.

Strategy. To spare it, the protagonist must beckon/ignore, then pet, then play, and then pet twice. Like any other dog enemy, it can be spared by using the Stick. Ignoring four times bores Greater Dog and ends the fight.

In the Genocide Route, Glad Dummy can be killed or spared immediately. Performing other actions (missing attacks, checking, or using items) for eight consecutive turns causes Glad Dummy to get bored and float away. Sparing or boring Glad Dummy aborts the Genocide Route.

Nothing specific happens if you reset right at that point. It would yield the same result as resetting a few rooms earlier or anywhere in new home. However, if you reset AFTER beating Sans but before you meet Asgore, Flowey is upset.

The Genocide Route occurs when the protagonist kills every enemy in every region: the Ruins, Snowdin Forest, Waterfall, and Hotland (the CORE is a sub-region of Hotland.)

If you do genocide run first you lock yourself out of a "true" true pacifist ending. People say this all the time and it's overblown. The Pacifist ending after Genocide is basically identical to the normal one except a character makes an different expression at the end.
