B O D G E D _ M V H R _ D U C T W O R K This follows on from my earlier post inspecting a high end developments MVHR system which happens to be using Vent-Axia MVHRs.So naturally, VA will be the brand to be blamed as their name is plastered on their MVHR unit. But it's the installers to blame, NOT VA!Check out the bodged flexible duct onto the rectangular duct. Sorry for the poor focus on the video, it's best near the end.The airflows throughout this 5 bed property are all really low, although the MVHR units are running at the higher end of their capacity. This creates continous background noise and elevated energy use.Should VA and other domestic ventilation manufacturers continue to offer warranties on their units - if - its proven the ductwork installation is not to design or poorly installed? Maybe something for BEAMA to align with it's members Kelly Butler (add this to the list) We need to protect the manufacturers / brands and go after the installers!I'll be sure to play this one out as we uncover more issues (no doubt).#mvhr #ventilation

In this front line dynamic role, I've seen some poor reinstatements and some good ones, heard every excuse, the blame game....etcYesterday, Friday, there was a well advanced planned job between the council and contractor to replace a very old style telecom cover and frame in a busy town. As it was so old you have to take into consideration a potential engineering difficulty. Council carried out our intricate checks, there were no local events on that would be disrupted, so date was set, everything agreed, good to go, 2 day works notice granted with 4 way TL's.A few hours before starting day, unbeknown to the LA or the contractor, a local church minister contacted us panicking due to a wedding ceremony on Saturday in an old Abbey, on a one way street, exactly where the work site will be...yikes.... As you can imagine, the pressure was on, millions of thoughts running through our minds....can it be done in a day, what if the chamber needs rebuilt, will it need road plates and barriered off if there is a chamber issue, will buses get passed, will the site be an obstruction to the wedding party drop off and pick up points, should we abort and re program etc.... myself and my line manager discussed every angle and a solution was agreed. To cut to the quick the chamber was thankfully in very good condition and completed successfully on Friday. the 2 lads replacing the ironwork carried out a fantastic job, complete by brushing up every last bit of dust, followed by washing the area down thoroughly then onto their hand and knees ensuring not a hair line of quick set cement spillage was on the cobbles around the reinstament. Now that's pride in their work. Awesome effort.Additionally, Earlier on in the week another telecom contractor stepped up to the plate for a resident in the Yarrow Valley leaving a fantastic tidy reinstament on a verge area.I find it personally rewarding seeing excellent workmanship and I like to make it known as in this game there can be too much of the opposite. So well done to the contractors and sub contractors this week. Outstanding effort 👍

View all vertical lifeline systems A vertical lifeline system allows workers to move up and down the entire height of the lifeline rather than having to disconnect and find new tie-off points along the way. Some important considerations when selecting a system include whether it is portable or permanent and if its mobile or fixed.
