Erin Michos, MD, MHS, FACC, FAHA, FASE, FASPC

Dr. Michos is a cardiologist with an extensive background in clinical research on women's cardiovascular health, lipids, and cardiometabolic diseases. As an internationally-recognized expert, Dr. Michos is a sought-after speaker at medical conferences and scientific meetings around the world. She has published over 600 scientific papers in peer-reviewed medical journals in the fields of preventive cardiology and cardiovascular epidemiology.

Dr. Michos also holds several leadership positions, including Director of Women's Cardiovascular Health, Associate Director of Preventive Cardiology, and Co-Director of the Improving Participation Among diverse populations in Cardiovascular clinical Trials (IMPACT) Center at Johns Hopkins Medicine. Her work focuses on reducing cardiovascular health disparities in women and increasing diversity and representation in clinical research.

Irving Loh, MD, FACC, FACP, FAHA, FCCP

Dr. Loh is a cardiologist with long-established expertise in clinical trial design and execution. He was an Associate at the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute at NIH in both the intramural (Lipid Metabolism/Molecular Diseases) and extramural (Cardiac Diseases Branch) divisions. He founded the Ventura Heart Institute, which conducted extensive clinical research focused on the prevention of cardiovascular disease and improvement of patient care. Dr. Loh has been a principal investigator on over 160 cardiometabolic clinical trials including all the statins, PCSK9 inhibitor monoclonal antibodies, CETP inhibitors, and nonstatin investigational products.

Dr. Loh's past academic appointments include preeminent institutions such as UCLA School of Medicine, Cedar-Sinai Medical Center, and Stanford Medicine. His widely recognized experience in clinical research has placed him in several leadership and advisory roles, including Chair of the Institutional Review Board and founder of the Bioethics Committee at HCA Los Robles Regional Medical Center.

Currently, Dr. Loh is a Senior Consultant/Principal Investigator for Care Access at our Thousand Oaks location. He directly manages cardiometabolic clinical trials available at this site, and he has recruited additional physician Principal Investigators to the site to run leading clinical trials in other therapeutic areas. Dr. Loh has formed partnerships with local community medical organizations to reach people who would otherwise not have access to trials, specifically focused on increasing access for the Hispanic community in the region.

He also did a TEDx talk on the rationale of randomized double-blind placebo controlled clinical trials.

Seth Shay Martin, MD, MHS, FACC, FAHA, FASPC

Dr. Martin is a cardiologist and world-leading expert in the science of lipids. The Martin/Hopkins method, the most accurate way to calculate LDL cholesterol levels, was created by and named after him and his team at Johns Hopkins. His interdisciplinary research in preventive cardiology connects multiple areas, including lipidology, cardiovascular risk assessment, digital health, big data, and precision medicine. He has published more than 350 articles in leading medical journals.

Dr. Martin holds numerous leadership positions, including Director of the Advanced Lipid Disorders Program and Director of the Center for Mobile Technologies to Achieve Equity in Cardiovascular Health (mTECH) at Johns Hopkins Medicine. He is deeply involved in the development of digital health innovations that educate and engage patients in their health. As a committed advocate for equity in health and healthcare, he also mentors early-stage investigators helping to build a diverse research workforce.

Ankur Kalra, MD, FACC, FACP, FSCAI

Dr. Kalra is an interventional cardiologist with vast experience in clinical research and a focus on helping communities that are disproportionately impacted by heart disease. He has held numerous leadership positions, including Medical Director of Clinical Research for Cleveland Clinic's regional community-based hospitals and Director of the Barry J. Maron Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Center in New Delhi, India.

Dr. Kalra is dedicated to advancing the field of cardiovascular medicine, having published nearly 300 scientific papers in peer-reviewed medical journals. His lifelong work to address disparities in heart health among South Asians, who have 4x the risk of cardiovascular disease, has helped build international awareness and collaboration among healthcare professionals.
